What epoxy floor coating in Toowoomba actually involves

We read the Commission's page for that class on 6 October 2026. Besides the scope line, it says: “Review the scope of work above and ensure it covers all work you intend to undertake.” A quote that also takes in repairs to the slab, new edges or other building work is more than coating, so ask whether the contractor's class covers all of it. The page also carries the line “only perform work that is valued at less than $3,300” in a passage about work outside a class; read the Commission's page itself for what that applies to, because we do not say.

What this page does not say

No page we read says whether coating a particular floor is building work, or what value counts, so we say neither that it is nor that it is not. We link no page of the Commission's here; the rules check on the costs page lists the Commission's value lines with their sources.

The value lines

Queensland's home warranty, written-contract, deposit and cooling-off lines turn on the value of the job, and they start at A$3,300: the Commission says all contracts for building work valued at over A$3,300 must include advice about your right to a cooling-off period. The rules check on the costs page lets you type the job value and shows which lines it reaches. Ask for the contractor's QBCC number, the class it is in, and the contract before work starts.

The class is State-wide, so nothing about it is particular to Toowoomba. What is local is the floor: see cracked slabs on Darling Downs clay, and the suburb pages for floors in Toowoomba City and Oakey that have had water on them.

Which class names epoxy floors?

The Queensland Building and Construction Commission's Floor finishing and covering (hard sector) class, whose scope includes preparing, applying and finishing epoxy and seamless floor coverings.

Does that mean any contractor can coat any floor?

We do not say. The Commission tells you to ensure the scope covers all the work you intend to undertake, so ask which class the contractor is in and whether the quote names any work outside it.

Where does A$3,300 come in?

The Commission's value lines for home warranty, a written contract, deposits and cooling-off turn on the job value, starting at A$3,300. The rules check on the costs page shows each.
